Is a tropical fruit tree
Is a very fast growing tree
They produce fruit in 8-9 months
The plant is like a palm with a bare trunk
The green flesh can be used as a vegetable
The seeds have a spicy taste
They are related to babaco and mountain pawpaw
The trees grow to 10 meters high
They have shallow roots
Yield is as high as 50kg per tree
Pawpaws are usually grown from seed
They prefer a tropical or subtropical climate













How to Grow

They need a warm position
They need rich fertile soils
Plants need protection from strong winds
Keep the soil moist
Mulch plants with organic matter

Harvesting

Late winter to early summer
When the skin turns yellow it is ripe
However the fruit can be used if it is green
