Cattley guavas (Psidium cattleianum)

Types include yellow cherry and strawberry
It is a slower growing guava tree
It does best in cooler climates
It may bear fruit in 2 years
Fruit is small and round
They are a good source of Vitamin C
They can be used in jams or chutneys
Trees can reach 4 meters tall
Trees can be treated like a hedge
It is a heavy cropper
Yield is as high as 50kg per tree
They can be grown in a large pot






















How to Grow

They like a full sun position
They grow in a wide range of soils
Plant in cooler weather
Keep fruiting trees well watered
Fertilise with some blood and bone mix
Fruit needs protection from fruit flies

Harvesting

Fruit is ripe in late Winter to early Spring
Pick fruit that is soft
