Origins of this plant are Central and South America
A popular fruit around the world
High yielding over a long time
Peppers can also be orange, black, yellow, white or purple
Red capsicums have good sweetness and flavour
The more mature the fruit the better the taste is
High in Vitamin C
They can be grown in large containers














How to grow

Sow seed with a light covering in Spring and Summer or
plant commerical seedlings
A warm sunny location
A fertile, moisture retentive soil
Soil temperature of at least 23oC is needed for germination
Same conditions and treatments as tomatoes
Place seedlings 40cm(17in) apart














Harvesting


Usually mature from 90-130 days
Pick the first fruits when they are green to encourage further cropping

Bogyiszlo - An abundant producer that is red when mature
Californian Wonder - A bell type that prodcues lots of fruit
Diamond - Diamond shaped fruit that turn yellow
Jimmy Nardello - Long red fruit to 25cm long
Purple Beauty - A plant that grows to 45cm high with purpley fruit
Sweet Chocolate - Ripens to a dark chocolate colour
